The CYENS Centre of Excellence presents WIP – Brave New Humanity / Arts and Technology Festival 2022.

The WIP (Work in Progress) festival is an ever-evolving series of activities and exhibitions focused on arts & technology synergies. Organized by CYENS’ Thinker Maker Space, the ITICA Research Group & the Museum Lab Research Group, together with esteemed collaborators, the festival is breaking new ground in the east Mediterranean, aiming to become an annual reference point for scientists and creatives experimenting at the intersection of Arts, Science and Technology.

This year’s festival is expanding; it hosts over 80 experiences and presents media artworks, performances, research projects, talks, workshops, screenings, and interactive games from invited local and visiting artists, universities, organizations, and CYENS.

All activities will take place at CYENS’ premises and other venues in the proximity of the center between the 11th of and 23rd of November 2022.

The festival’s program includes:

  • The S+T+ARTS – Repairing the Present Local Prototyping Park, showcasing “Cyprus Vital Signs” by RSC3 CYENS’ resident artist Joseph Hovadik, along with invited artists working in the framework of S+T+ARTS aims and vision
  • The Electronic Festival of Ars Electronica’s Animation Festival on Tour, presenting a selection of best works chosen by the jury of the Computer Animation category Prix Ars Electronica 2021, under the auspices of the Austrian Embassy
  • A selection from the French Institute’s Escape exhibition, under the auspices of the French Embassy
  • Selected student projects from the Critical Data course of the Interface Cultures Master’s program of the University of Art and Design Linz, Austria.
  • Selected student projects from the University of Nicosia and the Cyprus University of Technology.
  • Artworks, installations, performances, talks and workshops from artists, technologists and academics invited from Cyprus and abroad.
  • Selected projects from the CYENS Thinker Maker Space Artist in Residence program
  • Selected projects and presentations from CYENS’ Research and Innovation Departments
  • Live music and a street party.

CYENS invites the broader public, as well as special interest groups from the culture, academia and industry sectors to enjoy a plethora of experiences that reveal the potential of interdisciplinary synergies and reinforce the dialogue between general and expert communities from Cyprus and abroad.
